How to design a network Essay Example For Students
Step by step instructions to plan a system Essay The school of Business (COB) server is currently being utilized to help convey to theComputer Information System (CIS) division. The CIS educators would utilize the serverfor different tasks. Assignments, email, and different kinds of data would be simpler forthe understudies to get to. System clients can share records, printers and different assets; sendelectronic messages and run programs on different PCs. Be that as it may, certain significant issuesneed to be tended to and focused on. So as to start the way toward setting up the COBserver, the absolute quantities of clients (staff and understudies) must be resolved. Some othersignificant elements to be drawn nearer are: the necessary programming applications required on thenetwork, a productive and proper registry structure and viable security structure. Indesigning the registry structure, the significant spotlight must be on availability. The number ofundergraduate CIS courses that the server will be utilized for is be! tween 15 and 17. For the clients to be guaranteed that their data isn't in danger, we will createan powerful security structure. In creating the proper security structure there must becertain get to rights alloted to the clients. A significant specialized detail in setting up a server isthe measure of cash that should be apportioned for the rebuilding of the framework. For thesystem to work appropriately, the measure of equipment/programming should be resolved. The COB server will basically be utilized by CIS teachers and CIS understudies. Theapproximate number of teachers in the CIS office is somewhere in the range of five and seven and theapproximate number of CIS majors is somewhere in the range of 100 and 120. As PC innovation continuesto develop, the quantity of CIS majors is immensely expanding. On the off chance that we see an extensive ascent inComputer Information Systems majors the office should extend its employees. The CIS teachers will utilize the server to dispense their prosp ectuses, disseminate specificassignments and send email to their understudies. The format, structure and multifaceted nature of each classwill decide how much the teacher might be utilizing the server. The top of the line a CIS major normally takes at Western is CIS 251. The executives InformationSystems (CIS 251). This class offers understudies a reason for the executives data frameworks inbusiness associations. In putting the COB server to utilize and preparing the understudy forhands-on information on PC based data frameworks, CIS 251 spotlights on analysis, development, structure, execution, and assessment. Different errands that are shrouded in this classare PC applications ins spreadsheets, word processors, and database frameworks. Data frameworks influence both agents and individuals who live in the public eye. The primary programming class CIS majors take is CIS 256. This CIS course will be verybeneficial for the server. Business Computer Programming (CIS 256) presents the un derstudy toan utilization of programming rule in business. Nitty gritty assignments include flowcharting, coding, documentation, and testing. This course gives the understudy a foundation ofcomputer engineering and information portrayal. This class record will require the BASICprogramming language that will be utilized just as the compiler. The CIS elective, CIS 301, underscores most extreme hands-on experience withmicrocomputers and programming bundles, including word preparing, spreadsheets, databasemanagers, and realistic frameworks. Microcomputer Applications (CIS 301), is a significant coursefor understudies not studying Computer Information Systems, however might want to familiarizethemselves with the PC. This record will contain Microsoft Office and e-mailAn significant class that gets helpful for the server is the CIS 358 course. The professorcan send applications, reports, programs and other information to the server where the understudy cantransfer to a plate or their VAX a ccount. Applications Development II (CIS 358) is an examination ofthe condition of workmanship apparatuses and methods for creating complex business applications; dataorganization, on-line preparing, programming building, and programming upkeep. This CIS classis an augmentation to CIS 258. The understudy will extend his/her insight into the COBOLprogramming language. All together for the CIS major to apply rule of good application designand taking care of issues, the Visual Basic programming language will likewise be presented. Theaccount for these two classes will contain the COBOL programming language and the compilerFor the understudies to get familiar with customer server innovation, CIS 365 is required to theComputer Information Systems educational plan. The understudy will be engaged with learning aboutdifferent kinds of customer server condition, for example, arranging Worldwide Web condition andbuilding a Netware LAN to help conveyance customer server processing. PC Architec ture,Communications, and Operating Systems (CIS 365) centers around the design of moderncomputer frameworks including peripherals; information interchanges organizing with shortcoming tolerantcomputing; language progress; working frameworks programming/equipment and utilities. This accountwill have web associations and Netware tasks. In examining Database Management Systems (CIS 453), the CIS understudy will get familiar with the roleof databases, database applications, information demonstrating utilizing element relationship and semantic objectmodels. The importance of the COB server for CIS 453 is that the understudy will concentrate onmulti-client database preparing on LANs with the accentuation on customer server frameworks. In thisdatabase class, understudies will likewise be required to plan and execute a database utilizing thecurrent innovation. This record will require Microsoft Access and Salsa. To acclimate the CIS major with frameworks advancement, CIS 455 is required by thecurriculum. This class presents the understudy with cost/advantage avocation; programming design;implementation and upkeep techniques; quality affirmation; and joining of informationsystems into the board dynamic procedures. PC Information Systems Analysisand Design (CIS 455) will necessitate that an understudy plan a proper PC framework for aspecific organization or business. The record for this class will contain Microsoft Office and willThe last class that is required for in the CIS center is CIS 465. In this course, the central pointis to deliberately utilize data frameworks in the business condition. Data ResourceManagement (CIS 465) fixates on duty and responsibility of data resourcemanagers; security, legitimate, and moral issues; acquirement and management of assets andresource evaluation. This class will have Visual/IFPS Plus just as Internet capabilitites. Neighborhood (LANs) could be thought of as pockets of facilitated computingwithin a little geographic region. The s ystem has three layers of parts: Applicationsoftware, arrange programming, and system equipment. Application programming that will be utilized willconsists of PC programs that interface with arrange clients and license the sharing ofinformation, for example, documents, designs, and video, and assets, for example, printers and plates. Thetype of utilization programming that will be utilized is called customer server. Customer PCs sendrequests for data or solicitations to utilize assets to different PCs, called servers, thatcontrol information and applications. The system programming to be utilized will comprises of computerprograms that set up conventions, or rules, for PCs to converse with each other. Theseprotocols are completed by sending and accepting arranged directions of information called bundles. Conventions make sensible associations between arrange applications, d! irect development through the physical system, and limit the chance of crashes betweenpackets sent simultaneo usly. System equipment is comprised of the physical parts thatconnect PCs. Two significant segments that will convey the computerââ¬â¢s signs will bewires or fiber-optic links, and the system connector, which will get to the physical media thatlinks the PCs, gets bundles from the system programming, and transmits directions andrequests to different PCs. Transmitted data is as twofold digits, or bits whichthe electronic hardware can process. The new neighborhood (LAN) that we are proposing to configuration might be a one volumeserver. The registry structure for this server will go as follows: There will be a framework directorywhere the line holds and administrations the print employments before being printed. A login will beestablished to actuate and open a meeting to the Network Operating System for a client. TheDOS applications accessible to the open will be Word Perfect, Excel, Power Point, and Lotus1-2-3. A mail catalog will be made for clients to have the option to send emai l and furthermore recover it. The clients of this index structure will be engaged around the staff which will be Heinrichs,Perry, Banerjee, Clapper, and Carland. The workforce will reserve the options to the classes that aretaught here at Western Carolina University. These classes will likewise be utilized by the understudies of theComputer Information Systems program. The applications that will be utilized by the understudies andBOL, Visual Basic, Database applications, Basic, and Visual/IFPS Plus. In these courses facultycan dole out projects or assignments to the understudies and they should simply go to theappropriate class that they are in and get the schoolwork that is accomplish for that specific class. The medium used to transmit data will restrict the speed of the system, the compelling distancebetween PC, and the system topology. The coaxial link will give transmissionspeeds of two or three thousand bits for each second for significant distances and around one-hundred mill ion bitsper second (Mbps) for shorter separations. The kind of topology that will be utilized to orchestrate PCs in this system will be the bustopology. The transport topology is made out of a singl

Diffrence between ABC costing and the Time Driven ABC costing (HBR) Article
Diffrence between ABC costing and the Time Driven ABC costing (HBR) - Article Example Time Driven ABC was proposed by Robert S. Kaplan and Steven R. Anderson, in 2004. Despite the fact that ABC had been a trailblazer in managing organizations associations, still it couldn't stay up with the consistently extending creation lines of organizations. Time driven ABC is really an improvement of the ABC system (Kaplan and Bruns). Time Driven ABC requires just the estimation of the down to earth limit of assets and the time required for value-based exercises. Where ABC doesn't represent the unused limit in the association, Time Driven ABC represents the unused limits, along these lines opening roads for the portion of these abilities to new items or chopping them down. It is simpler to keep up and accumulate the information through this model, as the work power required is far less and furthermore the social occasion of the information doesn't require the representatives to be overviewed. The administrator can dispense the ideal opportunity for an action based n his expert perception instead of abstract records of the representatives. It is simpler to ascertain and approve when contrasted with the customary ABC. The information can likewise be handily refreshed. The Time driven ABC strategy takes into consideration the joining of a wide assortment of components in the time condition. It can adapt to something other than a neighborhood office with set number of exercises. It likewise lessens odds of spending slack, made by retaining of private data held by

Confused About Successful Jerks Get to Know the Dark Triad
Confused About Successful Jerks Get to Know the Dark Triad Steve Jobs. Travis Kalanick. Evan Spiegel. These three guys have two things in common. The first is that they are all brilliant entrepreneurs who co-founded technology startups that went on to be wildly successful. The second is that they can all be described as jerks.Apple co-founder Steve Jobs is still one of the worldâs most praised entrepreneurs to this date, several years after his death. Despite his success as an entrepreneur, Jobs could be a pain in the back. He screamed at employees for the smallest things. He is even said to have stormed into a meeting once and hurled unprintable words at everyone inside the board room.Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick has severally been accused by the media of being sexist, misogynist and exhibiting bad boy behaviors. A venture capitalist passed over the opportunity to invest in Uber because he felt that Kalanick acted like he (Kalanick) was a gift from God.Snapchat co-founder, Evan Spiegel, on the other hand, has also been accused of being a misogynist and a jerk generally. At one time, he was so angry with his parents for not getting him a $75,000 BMW that he cut himself out of family photos. These three are not the only jerks who have risen to successful positions in their industries. Several other incredibly successful entrepreneurs, such as PayPal, SpaceX and Tesla co-founder Elon Musk and Amazon founder have similar reputations. They are all known for pushing their vision about their companies without giving an iota of care about the feelings of their employees or anyone else. This is not only reserved to the tech industry.Donald Trump has been severally referred to as a jerk, but he is the current president of the United States. Kanye West, one of the worldâs greatest pop culture icons, has severally been accused of being narcissistic and maniacally egotistic. If you look around you, will notice many more examples of people who are wildly successful despite being jerks. This raises the question:Who is more likely to succeed in life â" a nice guy or a jerk?In an ideal world, people expect that people with virtuous traits â" honesty, friendliness, generosity and warmth â" to be more successful than people with darker traits â" dishonesty, selfishness, cold-heartedness and hostility. However, we see a lot of successful and powerful people who clearly exhibit the darker traits, lending credence to the popular saying that nice guys finish last.Research cited by the Association for Psychological Science also confirms that jerks tend to be more successful, depending on the particular traits they exhibit. How do you explain this?Well, the success and achievements of jerks are often a result of a concept known as the dark triad. Dark triad personalities have a set of socially aversive traits which, when brought together, confer a great advantage to an individual, increasing their chances of success.WHAT IS THE DARK TRIAD? The dark triad is a concept used in psychology to refer to individuals who ha ve a set of three aversive yet functional personality traits. The three personality traits are narcissism, Machiavellianism and psychopathy. These three traits are spectrum disorders, which means most people show these traits to a certain degree. Those who fall very high on the spectrum in the three traits are usually diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder. On the other hand, those affected by the trio of traits below clinical levels (the traits are there but not enough to be clinically diagnosed as mental illnesses) tend to achieve a lot of success in life.Letâs take a deeper look at the three traits that make up the dark triad.NarcissismThis trait gets its name from the Greek myth of Narcissus. Narcissus was the son of the River God Cephisus and the nymph Liriope. Narcissus was known for his striking beauty.Upon seeing his reflection on a pool, Narcissus falls in love with the reflection and becomes so fixated with his beauty that he ends up drowning in the pool. Just like Narcissus, narcissists are driven by an extreme fixation on themselves. They are selfish, arrogant and boastful. They have a grandiose self-confidence and self-centeredness and desire to always be the object of attention.Narcissistic people also have a great sense of entitlement and believe they are superior to others. They are hypersensitive to criticism and will go to great lengths to ensure that they maintain their image. On the outside, narcissists appear to be very confident. On the inside, however, most of them are very insecure and are constantly looking for things to reinforce their bloated egos. They will lie and deceive to maintain their public impression. They are masters of the âfake it till you make itâ philosophy. Their sense of self-importance is so high that they even deceive themselves and believe their own boasts, even when it can be verified that they are overselling themselves. In case their fragile ego is threatened, most narcissists display a lot of anger and aggression in what is referred to as a ânarcissistic rageâ.Unlike normal and healthy self-confidence which is based on a personâs adhered values, accomplishments and respect towards self and others, the self-confidence displayed by narcissists is usually a psychological defense against their intrinsic inadequacies. To help them maintain their public image, narcissists are often charming and charismatic, which makes them socially successful. They are highly motivated to maintain impressions and are undeterred by rejection.Narcissists are also poor at processing shame. They see themselves as perfect people who are better than anyone else and who deserve awards and recognition because of that. They have no problem exploiting others so long as it helps them maintain their grandiose view of themselves.MachiavellianismThis term was derived from the philosophies of Niccolo Machiavelli, a renowned Italian politician and diplomat from the 16th century. In his 1513 book The Prince, Machiav elli argues for the use of trickery and deceit in diplomacy. Machiavellianism, therefore, is a personality trait displayed by people who tend to use cunning and deceit in their social interactions to achieve their goals. As such, Machiavellianism is associated with duplicity, self-interest and a lack of morality. Machiavellians exude a facile social charm which they use to undermine others.Machiavellians are strategic and calculating. They believe that the end justifies the means and have no trouble manipulating others in order to achieve their goals. Manipulation is a trait that is also seen among psychopaths. However, Machiavellians are more future oriented. To them, life is like a game of chess. They always think several moves ahead. They will form alliances and carefully maintain their reputations till they get what they want.Machiavellians donât trust human goodness. They believe that everyone only thinks about themselves and that depending on others is naïve.Because of this, they are only focused on their own interests and ambitions, giving a higher priority to money and power over relationships. According to Machiavellians, one has to be deceptive to get ahead. They are willing to compromise on values and principles if it helps them to achieve their goals. As part of the exploitative and manipulative strategies, their use charm, confidence and flattery to fool others. They have low empathy and have no qualms about causing harm to others to get what they want. They are good at reading social situations. They are very patient due to their calculating nature and often avoid emotional attachments and commitment.Unlike the other two traits that make up the dark triad, Machiavellianism is not a permanent personality trait. Machiavellians will display this trait only in certain situations, under certain conditions. Therefore, they might seem genuinely kind and caring at one moment, and then act surprisingly Machiavellian the next moment, depending on whatâs at stake.Generally, Machiavellians have a âdo or dieâ attitude. They will do whatever it takes to get what they want.PsychopathyThis is a personality trait that is associated with low or lacking empathy, antisocial behavior, guiltlessness and lack of remorse, manipulation, high impulsivity, interpersonal hostility and heartless social attitudes.Psychopaths are unusually bold, with little or no fear, high tolerance to stress, unfamiliarity and danger, and high levels of social assertiveness and self-confidence.Studies have shown that the connections among the components of the brain that are responsible for emotions are weak in psychopaths, which gives psychopaths the inability to feel emotions deeply.Psychopaths also have unusually high thresholds for disgust. They will engage in unethical or disgusting actions without the slightest feeling of disgust. Psychopaths are also largely irresponsible and tend to show blame externalization, where they place the blame on others, even if t hey are at fault.Forced into a corner, they might admit their blame, though they will not feel any shame or remorse even when caught in the wrong. They also have a very low tolerance for frustration and are highly aggressive.THE LINK BETWEEN THE DARK TRIAD AND SUCCESSThe three traits that make up the dark triad all seem like negative traits. Yet, when brought together, they often lead to success.According to this 15 year longitudinal study, individuals who exhibit narcissistic and psychopathic tendencies attain higher levels of financial attainment and are more likely to get to the top of the organizational hierarchy.Another research conducted by Bond University forensic psychologist Nathan Brooks found out that 21% of senior professionals (about one in every five) in the United States have clinically significant psychopathic traits. This becomes even more significant when you consider that psychopaths only constitute 1% of the general population. Various other researches and studies support the notion that dark triads tend to be more successful. This research found that narcissistic individuals tend to earn higher salaries, while Machiavellians were more likely to advance and to be satisfied in their careers. What is the reason behind this? Why do the bad guys win even at the workplace?Apparently, there is a bright side to these dark traits. One study examining the overlap between positive and negative personality traits found that personality traits such as high self-esteem, extraversion, curiosity, and openness to new experiences were generally higher among individuals with the dark triad personality.Apart from having the above positive traits, individuals with a combination of the three dark traits also have a knack for exploiting others in order to achieve their goals.Dark triad personalities are also more likely to be competitive in nature, even if they do this by inhibiting cooperation and altruism at work.Below, we take a look at how each dark triad influ ences success.NarcissismIndividuals high in narcissism, with their grandiose self-confidence and their sense of entitlement and superiority, are more likely to seek out leadership positions at work, since this will give them a sense of status.Their high level of confidence also plays a role in helping them nab leadership positions â" after all, confidence is one of the characteristics of a good leader.Since they care a lot about their public image, narcissistic individuals are also careful to make good first impressions, especially during job interviews.Because of this, they tend to land better jobs and earn higher salaries than the average person. With their huge self-confidence and sense of entitlement, narcissists are also more likely to initiate negotiations and negotiate favorable terms for themselves.Narcissistic individuals are also more comfortable networking and getting others to notice and pay attention to them. This gives them an advantage in situations like sales and pre sentations. Instead of moving with the crowd, they are not afraid to innovate and shift paradigms. Whereas average people are afraid of the criticism that comes with non-conformity, narcissists thrive in controversy. Finally, owing once again to their self-confidence, they are not afraid to seek and apply for new opportunities.Of course, the more a person seeks opportunities, the more likely they are to find them. Even when they get rejected, narcissists do not give up.After all, they believe that that they are Godâs gift to mankind, therefore if someone rejects them, then it is that personâs fault.MachiavellianismMachiavellians, on the other hand, are driven by their goals. They will stop at nothing to achieve their goals.According to a 2009 paper by Jones and Paulhus, Machiavellians tend to display higher motivation than the average person. They are more focused and are willing to work harder to achieve their goals.According to the same paper, Machiavellians also thrive in situ ations that provide the opportunity for manipulation. Whereas other people find situations such as negotiations and confrontations to be awkward, Machiavellians actively seek out such situations. To Machiavellians, the only important thing in the world is their desired goal. Everything else is an obstacle that must be dealt with, even if it means deceiving or manipulating others.Driven by their goals, Machiavellians are more likely to notice their shortcomings and take corrective action, such as improving their skills. This makes them more likely to achieve success compared to the average person.Machiavellians also have a high degree of charm. They know what they want and they understand that they need other people to get it. They use their charm to rope in others to help them achieve their goals. They also have no problem manipulating the truth to suit them. For instance, a Machiavellian will not think twice about lying in his resume if he believes that doing so will give him a highe r chance of landing the job.Given that many organizations do not follow up with former organizations to verify facts, this can give a Machiavellian a significant advantage over the average person.PsychopathyThe distinguishing characteristic of psychopaths is that they lack empathy and are not capable of feeling any deep emotion. This means that psychopaths are more likely to make better decisions, considering that research and studies have shown that emotions lead to irrational behavior. One research in particular set out to test the effect of emotional detachment in psychopathy on decision game through a game referred to as the ultimatum game. The game places power in one playerâs hands and then examines the rationality of the other playerâs decision. In the game, the first player is given a certain amount of money, say $100 and told that he can keep the money on one condition. He is supposed to share some of the money with the second player, and itâs up to him to decide how much he will give to the second player. He can give him as much as little or as much as he wants. If the second player accepts the offer, the second player gets the proposed amount and both of them can keep their share. If the second player rejects the offer, then neither of them gets to keep any money.Since the second player does not have money to begin with, it would be rational for them to accept any offer. Even if player one offers them $1, it makes more sense to take the dollar instead of walking away empty-handed.Surprisingly, the research found that most average second players rejected offers beyond a certain level. If they felt that an offer was unfair, they rejected it, which means that both players got nothing. They players also exhibited an electrodermal response, which means that the decision elicited a subconscious response from them. When the experiment was replicated among people with psychopathic traits, the researchers found that the psychopathic players made better decisi ons. They accepted offers that were rejected by non-psychopathic players. The psychopathic players also showed lower levels of electrodermal response. The findings from this experiment give us a clue into why individuals with psychopathic traits might be more successful at the workplace.Their decisions are not clouded by emotion. This can give the psychopath a significant advantage over the average person, especially in situations where there are huge emotions behind a decision. For instance, letâs assume that an organization is struggling with reduced revenue and is trying to find solutions. One solution is apparent. If the organization fires 500 people, it will become more profitable and avoid going bust. The average manager might have a hard time making such a decision. He might be worried about what people will think of him and the anguish that the fired employees might go through. In the end, he might even come up with a different but less effective solution to avoid firing 500 p eople.A psychopath, on the other hand, would make a decision without giving a damn about the fired people, which is of course the better decision.Tying Everything TogetherWe have seen that each of the three dark traits can give an individual distinct advantages over the average person. When brought together, the combined advantages can add up and become quite significant.A dark triad personality is full of self-confidence, entitled and is quite good at making good first impressions. He is charming and charismatic, knows how to put his goals before everything else and has no trouble manipulating people to achieve these goals. Finally, he does not care about the feelings of others and will have no trouble making difficult decisions even if others might not be happy with the decisions. These are the ideal traits of a leader, and it is therefore not surprising that many dark triads end up in leadership positions.DOWNSIDES OF THE DARK TRIADWhile we have seen that the dark triad can improve an individualâs chances of achieving success, it is not all sunshine and roses. There are some major downsides of the dark triad.According to this paper, the success of dark triads is usually short lived and often comes at a cost to both self and the entire organization. In other words, the dark triad helps individuals get ahead but not get along with others. This is why you often hear the termsâsnakes in suitsâ and âtoxic leadershipâ.Dark triad personalities are also more likely to be associated with issues such as lying, deception, unethical behavior, cyber-aggression and white collar crime, such as internet fraud, Ponzi schemes, malfeasance, insider trading, embezzlement and corruption. The dark triad is also linked to higher incidents of counterproductive workplace behaviors, such as bullying, absenteeism, theft, sabotage, turnover and so on.Many dark triads also have trouble outside their working life. The traits that give them an edge in the boardroom are the same tra its that cause problems in their social lives.WRAPPING UPThe dark triad refers to individuals who exhibit a set of the three dark traits of psychopathy, Machiavellianism and narcissism. While each of these is a negative trait, individuals displaying mild levels of three traits can achieve high levels of success.Brought together, the three traits result in individuals who are full of self-confidence, are good at making impressions, are charming and charismatic, goal oriented and have no problem stepping on othersâ toes to get where they want.Unfortunately, while the dark triad can lead to success, the success often short-lived and comes at the cost of the whole organization.

Introduction Internal relations can be defined as many things. The definition is dependent on the branch of knowledge that is applying it. However, for this paper, international relations shall be defined as an international system that is made up of many states that have no bigger authority to which they answer when it comes to matters that they consider important to the state (LSE, 2016). Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Theories of International Relations (China and USA)" essay for you Create order International relations should, however, be seen as it is, not as a static entity, but as a dynamic entity that is ever shifting with the sands of time. Theories that are relevant now in international relations may be rendered obsolete in the years to come. The theories have been shaped by history and various cultural norms and biases. One of the things that international relations deal with is conflict. Serious conflicts that may lead to war and conflicts between two big countries that just want to emerge on top. For this research paper, the conflict between the US and China shall be looked into. The relevance of looking into the conflict between the US and China is so that one can understand the conflict as looked through the prism of international relation theories. By understanding the conflict one will be able to mitigate any effects that may arise or have arisen because of the ensuing conflict and thus help in preventing any further conflict that may arise in the near future. Research Question The research question that was looked into in this research paper was: ?à · What are the theories that address the conflict between two powerful nations when it comes to international relations? Theoretical Discussion When it comes to international relations, there are contending theoretical perspectives. Realism which has been dubbed political realism is a theoretical perspective that brings to the fore the competitive and the conflictual side. The main actors as portrayed by the theoretical perspective of realism are states. States are not considered altruistic, but they are after their interests, Galston (2010), regardless of whether they align with the broader international relation theme that is abroad in the world at that particular era in time. As implied in realism, states will pursue their national interests, their security and they will struggle for power. Therefore those that subscribe to realism are often skeptical about the place of ethical norms in relations among states. Whereas most internal politics within countries are characterized by law, order, and justice, realists view the international political arena as one that without justice and filled with potential if not an active co nflict between states. Realism is not completely Machiavellian in nature where all is justified because of the state; there is a place for moral judgment when it comes to international relations. Its two main contrasts have been liberalism and idealism. Liberalism is a political doctrine that takes the protection of individual rights as its central theme (Lomasky et al. 2007). They believe that the government is a necessary evil when it comes to protecting individual rights but that the government may also pose a threat to those principles which liberalism espouses. In relation to international relations liberalism claims that the world is a harsh and dangerous place but the consequences of using any form be it military power or otherwise, will not outweigh the benefits. Liberalism also claims that power in the form of a strong military is not the only form of power; power can also be in the form of economic power. Modern times have proven that exercising economic power trumps the flexing of any military muscle that a state may have. Liberalism also claims that different states have different primary goals that are divergent from the accumulation of power for powers sake as espoused by realism. Liberalism also believes that if inter national relations in the form of agreed upon rules and international organizations can help usher in cooperation, peace, trust, and prosperity. Idealists are a specific school within liberalism that reinforces the need for states to act morally and ethically when it comes to the international arena. Basically, the whole point of idealism is that states should seek to act with goodwill towards their fellow states within the political arena. There should be no guile, trickery, dishonesty or nasty behavior towards each other. All manner of guile is considered highly immoral when it comes to international relations. Thus whereas realism may concentrate on international relation issues such as the cold war, liberalism may concentrate on international relations regarding economics between the leading economies. Overview of Chosen Phenomenon The chosen phenomenon is the conflict between the US and China. The conflict between the two states goes to the core of what they are and what they believe. According to Martin (2017), by 2050 China will be the largest economy in the world however as of the writing of this paper, China has the second largest economy in the world. In spite of this or even because of it, China is still a communist country (Ong, 2017). This forms a base for the conflict that is between US and China because the US is a capitalist nation to the core. While giving an overview, one needs to look at some of the reasons that may have caused the conflict to arise in the first place. Some reasons that may lead to international conflict, not necessarily conflict between the US and China are: there may be dissimilarity in interests; there may be sociocultural differences between the nations which will lead to built up friction whose pressure valve may be seen as conflict; a significant change in the balance of p owers may aggravate international relations causing conflict. A significant change in power may be an issue because it may aggravate the established status quo; they may be disrupted the structure of expectations; coercive state power may lead to conflict within international relation realms; last but certainly not least is power parity which may lead to full-blown war. International conflict need not be only between two states. Case in point; the conflict between the US and the Taliban in Afghanistan is an international conflict. In recent times, conflicts within a country have been classified as international conflicts especially if intervention from the wider international community is being considered. For example, the Arab Spring, where multiple states of Arabic nature ousted their leaders internally, was considered an international conflict. The conflicts in Bosnia, Iraq or Kosovo have been considered international conflicts though they are taking place within the country. Analytical Discussion Linking Theoretical Concepts to Empirical Observations Now that the overview of the chosen phenomenon, conflict, has been given, this portion of the research paper shall look into the specific conflict between the US and China and tie it to the theoretical concepts espoused above by giving empirical observations. Over the years, the chances of the conflict between the US and China escalating into military conflict have increased exponentially (OConnor, 2017). The conflict between the US and China may have begun in 1949 when China underwent a communist revolution, OConnor( 2017), where they expelled the nationalist government that was there to the small island of Taiwan. According to OConnor (2017), the island of Taiwan receives arms from the US. Over the years there has been increased military activity by China within the Taiwan Strait. This has led many pundits to theorize that because of the ties that Taiwan has with the US, then an invasion of Taiwan may be in the offing. Is such a thing were to occur then the US, with its history of helping out countries that are allied to them, will jump in to help and this may lead already tense situations to blow up into a full-blown war. The other issue that has escalated the conflict between the US and China is North Korea. There has been an exchange of threats some overt and some covert between the US and North Korea. The US does not like the fact that North Korea is amassing weapons of mass destruction and testing them regularly. There is fear that the weapons may be used to attack South Korea which is an ally of the US and as such President Trump has doubled down on the political rhetoric saying that ?all options are on the table (Allison, 2017). The question, therefore, has been whether the ensuing conflict between North Korea and the US may lead to greater tensions between the US and China. These are the facts, China and North Korea have been allies since the inception of both communist parties in the 1940s (OConnor, 2017). The US and South Korea are allies. If the US were to move against North Korea, there is an inadvertent assumption that China will come to the rescue. If North Korea were to move against Sout h Korea, then the US would come to aid its ally. By aiding South Korea against North Korea, the US would be opening the door wide open for China to get into the conflict. In 1950 Kim Jong Uns grandfather launched an attack on South Korea that took everyone by surprise. The U.S. came to aid South Korea, and by helping South Korea, China Came in to help North Korea (Allion, 2017). An armistice finally settled the fighting. According to Pagliery (2017), China has hacked several corporations within the US for nefarious purposes. The Chinese intelligence has targeted US national security agencies and the accounts of people that are high up in the government (Pelissier, 2017). According to Einstein (2017), the new conflict frontier between the US and China has been the frontier of economic conflict. Now that various conflicts and empirical evidence from various accredited sources and peer-reviewed journal have been given, how does all this tie to the theoretical perspectives given? Given the two conflicts that may be caused by third parties in the form of Taiwan and North Korea, both realism and liberalism may apply. Realism has shown that states are not altruistic, but they seek their own good. If the conflicts between China and Taiwan or the US and North Korea were to escalate to a point where one or both of the superpowers have to jump in to ?protect its allies it would not be for the sake for the ally per se. It would be a vicious power play in which the people would be the pawns in a much larger game. The US will not let China attack Taiwan because it has vested interests there. On the other hand, China will not sit by and watch the US attack North Korea because of a unified North Korea that is allied to the US is not a palatable thought for them. Conversely, liberalism wou ld paint the help rendered as beneficent. The two superpowers would extend a helping hand because that would be the right things to do. They would not do it by their own means and ends. Liberalism would also advise that the consequences of using the military option would not outweigh the benefits and as such, the military option should not even be considered. Regarding economic conflict, this is where liberalism would most apply. Liberalism would advise that the new frontier of power is an economic power. The economic power should not, however, be acquired so that you may oppress a state or a fellow man, but it should be acquired for philanthropic purposes. On the other hand, though realism does not deal with economic power, it deals with power in general. Realism would infer that a state should acquire as much economic power as it can and take care of its own needs and security. In regards to hacking, realism would advise acquiring as much power as you can. One of the most famous personalities when it comes to realism is Niccolo Machiavelli. His magnum opus is ?The Prince. In The Prince, he advises exercising and acquiring power through unethical means. Hacking for powers sake would then fit into a realism view; albeit radical realism. Idealism a branch within liberalism would state that it is wrong to hack because it breaches moral and ethical standards and it will further escalate the conflict. Conclusion International Relations theories are many, and they can be applied to the various phenomenon observed within the international community. For this research paper, the overall phenomenon looked at is conflict. The theories of liberalism and realism have been applied to assess conflict. However, there are other theories of international relations, and this theory can be used to evaluate various phenomenon not only conflict. As seen above dependent on whichever theory you use, conflict can appear evil or glorified. References Allison, G. (2017). Can North Korea Drag the US and China into War?. The Atlantic. Management Skill Conflict Case Study
Question: Discuss about the Management Skill for Conflict Case Study. Answer: Introduction: Possible Ways Improving Situation The case study is about organisational conflicts among the different hierarchy of the organisation. The employees have problem regarding the late coming of the boss. The employees and the team leader organise the whole day schedule daily. However, arriving late in the office, the boss prepares a new set of schedule for the employees. The changed schedule interrupts the tasks and work process daily (lu, 2015). These are main cause of dissatisfaction among the employees. The manager feels himself/herself unproductive as per decision-making process of the boss. This situation can be improved through roper communication with the boss (Ahmed, 2015). Both the employees and the boss have their respective constraints. The main cause of late arrival in office was family issues of the boss and his responsibilities for his child. Moreover, he stays office extra time to fulfil his duty. This indicates that, as a person, the boss is good. The employees want him to be more sensitive to them. Proper communication among the employees can resolve the problem (Guffey Loewy, 2012). The leader can write a letter to the boss about the issues faced by the employees and their time constraint. They even can highlight possible solutions (Roth, 2014). They can suggest the boss to prepare the work schedule of next day on that day. This solution can resolve the problem of late arrival of the boss in office. Meaningful verbal communication can be effective (Vercic, Vercic Sriramesh, 2012). After knowing the issues, the boss can also take initiatives. He may arrange meeting with the management team to resolve issues. Democratic management style may give the employees a space to share their views about improvement of the work process (Hamilton, 2013). Removing communication gap is the most effective to improve the situation. The boss is sensible person in the view of the employees. Therefore, it is expected that, he may understand the concern of the employees and may take proper action . References Ahmed, S., (2015) 'Business Communication',Pakistan Observer,. Animal Rights Vs. Human Rights Essays - Animal Testing, Free Essays
Animal Rights Vs. Human Rights Essays - Animal Testing, Free Essays Animal Rights Vs. Human Rights h Laboratory animals The use of laboratory animals is important to three main areas: biomedical research, product safety testing, and education. Biomedical researchers use animals to extend their understanding of the workings of the body and the processes of disease and health, and to develop new vaccines and treatments for various diseases. The research these people do isnt only for human benefit; it is also helping to develop veterinary techniques. The industry uses animals to test the effectiveness and safety of many consumer products, such as cosmetics, household cleaning products, pesticides, chemicals, and drugs. Educators, from elementary school all the way up to college, use animals as parts of the teaching process, including dissecting worms, and frogs in science classes to medical students using animals to learn surgical techniques. Scientists study animals to learn more about certain species: its history, its psychological and social behaviors, and its skills. If the animals are kept in captivity, they can be caused pain that isnt natural part of its environment. A number of organizations wish to replace and reduce the number of animals being used or, at the very least, lessen the pain. Rats and mice make up 85-90% of animals used in research, education, and testing. Rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, dogs, cats, and non-human primates are studied as well. Dogs and Cats make up about 1% of research animals. The certain animal depends on what is being studied. The majority of rats and mice are bred specifically for research. Half of the dogs and cats that are used are bred for that purpose too. Animal dealers are the primary source for the rest. Animal dealers must be licensed by the USDA, or the United States Department of Agriculture and have to obey the standards of care set up by the Animal Welfare Act. h Alternatives to Animal Testing Alternative methods fall into three main categories, also known as the three Rs: Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement. Replacement is when animals are replaced, either by absolute replacement, which is when an animal is completely replaced, or by relative replacement, just cells and tissues are used, instead of the whole animal. Replacement isnt always an option although, for those animals that do undergo testing, scientists try to lessen the pain and make the animals more comfortable. Replacement isnt considered an option anymore-it has become daily. A few years ago, when a woman wanted to find out whether or not she was pregnant, she had to stop at a laboratory and get a test that involved killing a rabbit. Nowadays, she can buy and over-the-counter kit that tests her for certain chemicals. Computers are a new high-tech method of replacement. For example, dissection on a computer model instead of real, live frogs, which I would prefer! People are becoming increasingly popular when it comes time for the needs for volunteers for new facial and skin products. Reduction is the second method involves sharing research animals. For one example, if one scientist doing a study on the lungs of a sheep, when it comes time to kill the sheep he will allow the others to use his kidneys, liver or heart. Refinement being the third choice means to reduce any pain and suffering that the animal is going through. Techniques that are less hostile to the animal can also be considered refinement. Researchers can use ultrasound or an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) to see what is going on inside the animal instead of cutting into it. The cosmetics industry, which 20 years ago tested all its products on animals has come so close to stopping using animals. Many companies have reduced the use of whole-animal testing by 80 V 90%. Some have eliminated it completely. Since the 80s many companies have put serious amounts of money and effort into a search for alternatives for animal testing. Plus, most ingredients that are being used today have already been tested on an animal and have shown to be safe. h What kinds of tests are being done? The chronic-toxicity tests assess the effects of long-term exposure, often at low levels, to certain subjects. Acute-toxicity tests evaluate the risk of short-term exposure, accidental contact with eyes, skin and indigestion. There have two

Guide to Doing Laundry in College
Guide to Doing Laundry in College Doing laundry in college can be a challenge - but it can also be easier than you might think. Just remember: you dont have to be psychic to do laundry correctly. But you do have to read, so just check the labels if youre not sure. Preparation Read the labels of anything unique. Have a fancy dress? Nice button-down shirt? New bathing suit? Pants or skirt made of a funky material? Anything that seems a little out of the ordinary might need extra care. A quick read of the tag instructions (usually found by the neck or waist or on the bottom inside left-side seam of shirts) can help prevent disasters. Anything needing special care or a certain water temperature should be separated from the rest.Sort out anything new. If you just bought a new, bright-red t-shirt, made tie-dye shirts with some friends, or have any other clothes that have dark (like black, blue, or brown) or bright (like bright pink or green) colors, these kinds of clothes might bleed (i.e., have their colors seep out and stain the rest of your clothes). Wash them separately on their first wash - but they should be good to join their friends for the next go-around.Separate clothes by color. Put the darks (blacks, blues, browns, jeans, dark towels, etc.) in one color and the lights in another (whites, creams, tans, pastels, etc.). Some colors, like light gray, can go in either pile, so feel free to move those around to make your loads around the same size. Washing Put one load of similarly colored clothes (e.g., darks or lights but not both) in the machine. A few rules here: dont squish them in. Dont pack them in. Just kinda throw them in so theres enough room for things to move and swim around once the machine fills with water. If you pack things in, they wont get clean and the detergent gets stuck on everything.Put in the soap. Read the instructions on the box or bottle. Dont necessarily use one full cap or one full cup; detergent companies like your money so they make it easy to put too much soap in. Put enough in for one load, which may be only half a cup. Read, read, read to find out how much you really need.Set the water temperature. A good rule of thumb to follow: Darks need cold water, lights need warm water, sheets and towels need hot water. Easy cheesy.Hit start! Drying Separate anything that cant go in the dryer. This may be something you found by reading the labels. It may also be things like bras with underwires, fancy underwear, bathing suits, or sweaters that would otherwise shrink from the heat.Put your clothes in the dryer. Take your clothes from the washer and put them in the dryer. If you want, you can add a dryer sheet; doing so will prevent static cling and make your clothes smell fantastic. Youll have to guesstimate how much time your clothes will need. If you have stuff that you dont want wrinkled, pull it out when its still a tad wet and hang it up. If you dont care, just dry it until everything is super dry and ready to go. Tips If you have nasty stains (like wine or dirt), try rubbing something on it before washing your clothes. (You can find stain-removal products near the laundry soap in any store.)If you love how clean clothes smell, consider putting a dryer sheet in each of your drawers, putting one between your towels, or hanging a few randomly in your closet.Because college laundry rooms have so many machines, consider having a night where you and your friends hang out and do something to pass the time while washing clothes. That way everyones clothes get clean and you can at least have some fun in the process.

A fundamental objective of the Land Registration Act 2002 Essay
A fundamental objective of the Land Registration Act 2002 - Essay Example The Land Registration Act 2002 aims at allowing prospective buyers of land know the existence of any equitable interests that may be attached to the land1. The basic assumption of the law is that prospective buyers should not take the burden of verifying the adverse interests attached on the land, but should rely on the land register that reflects any equitable interests attached to the land2. The Act also eliminates most of overriding interests in land by ensuring the duty of disclosure and reasonable inspection of interests attached to land3. This paper will mainly focus on the main provisions of the Act that has ensured accurate and timely reflection of the status of title of land. The enactment of the act provided a new breakthrough in the land title registration and verification since it changed the mechanism of sale and purchase of registered land from paper based transactions to electronic transactions. The Act followed the three principles articulated by Thoedore Ruoff, a for mer Land registrar of England. The principles are ââ¬Ëmirror principle, curtain principle and insurance principle. For unregistered land, the title of the land must be inspected under the old rules and seller must prove 15 years unbroken chain of the title from the root of the title. The purchaser has the duty to register his title to the register within the stipulated time, failure to which he or she will lose his legal estate in the land. The Land registry provides a description of the piece of land, the legal owner and any other interests that may affect the value and ownership of the land. ... The electronic network capturers all transactions related to the land including the registration of the title by the parties. The Act has laid down formalities relating to electronic conveyance such as time and date when the electronic dispositions should take effect. All the electronic signatures must be authenticated and such electronic documents must be signed by all involved parties. Section 4 (1) (g) of the Act requires registration on the creation of a protected first legal mortgage that is protected by the deposit of title deeds and also registration of leases with a term remaining of more than seven years. The Act also grants the land registrar powers to use transaction information on the network in order to monitor and disclose such appropriate information to other parties in electronic conveyance chain5. The Act also facilitates electronic settlement by granting the Land registrar the powers to form or assist in formation of a company or invest in a company with this system of electronic settlement. In the case of Abbey National Building society v, Cann, the main concern was the registration gap that occurs when an interest is created at the point of registration but before completion6. However, The House of Lords ruled that a party must have actual occupation of the land at the date of completion of registration of any interest to land in order to attain an overriding status to the land. In practical basis, the purchase of the land is not completed on the day the purchaser makes official search, but after few days has lapsed. Provided the purchaser lodges a registration within the stipulated period, he or she is not bound by notices or restrictions that may be made within the intervening period7. Section 7 (1)

Historical Analysis Of Almayers Folly English Literature Essay
Historical Analysis Of Almayers Folly English Literature Essay The novel Almayers folly is a story of an eastern river that many readers find as an intriguing text. It was Joseph Conrads first novel that opened the door for many more novels to come. Within the novel Almayer, his wife and his daughter all seek out different paths. Almayer wishes to return to Europe, which he perceives as his origin, his wife Mrs. Almayer wishes to return to a pre-colonial Sambir and then his daughter Nina wishes to return to her Malay roots. In the novel we learn about the two dominant cultures of Sambir which are White and Malay but what we dont understand is that by separating the two dominant cultures and returning Sambir to its original state would right an imperialist wrong. There are many controversies against joseph Conrad and his works of writing. It starts off with the question of Is joseph Conrad against or for imperialism? After reading Almayers folly and the other works on reserve I believe it is safe to say that Joseph Conrad was against imperialism. A good author writes what they know, and joseph Conrad used his books and other pieces of work to subliminally talk about his views of imperialism without becoming an outcast is his society. In the introduction of the Historical Guide to Joseph Conrad I read about how authors are shaped by their environment and their historical and cultural surroundings. This point supports how Conrad act as if he is an insider and an imperialist but secretly he feel like an outsider in his society and does not share the same views as everybody else . Almayer`s Folly takes on a special meaning in its characters lives. It is a story about quest and how each character must take on different challenges that make it exciting and interesting. In the novel, Almayer`s Folly, is the quest of the main character Kaspar Almayer but after researching Conrad we see pieces of himself in his main character. The story first takes place on an island called Borneo in the nineteenth century. He is a Dutch colonial who opened up a trading post on the island of Borneo. However, Almayer finds himself wanting to go back to his European routes, he its tired of his unfulfilling island life and rather be back in Amsterdam. Conrad also immigrated from Ukraine to England and was a sailor just how Almayer immigrated from Amsterdam to Borneo and was a sailor. Almayer had two major dilemmas which happened to be from his failed business and his mental suffering due to his failed marriage. In 1878 Conrad attempted suicide; in the story, Almayer was starting to be driven crazy by the long days and the surroundings of the island. He started to feel isolated and depressed and if it was not for his beautiful daughter Nina, Almayer would have taken his life as well. Conrad does not write about suicide because it is not accepted in his social class and since the men who will read his novels are most likely rich and imperialists he must abide by their rules. Almayer wished to have his freedom back just how Conrad wished to have freedom of speech. He absorbs himself in his dream of wealth and power away from this coast where he had dwelt for so many years, forgetting the bitterness of toil and strife in the vision of a great and splendid reward. This quote gives us a look at how Almayer was taken into a dream state wanted to go to a better place. At the beginning of the story, Conrad said Almayer had left his home with a light heart and a lighter pocket, speaking English well and strong in arithmetic; ready to conquer the world, never doubting that he would. This shows how Almayer connects to Conrad in the real world because Conrad did a similar thing but he traveled to England instead of Borneo. Almayer suffered through overwhelming odds in his twenty-five year long struggle. Almayers wife was jealous of how much Nina loved her father. His wife had soon commenced to treat him with a savage contempt expressed by sulky silence, only occasionally varied by a flood of savage invective. Conrad uses the word savage, but he is not referring to a Native American in this text, he is referring the Almayers actions. In the nineteenth century it was not uncommon to call natives savages, because we as humans are scared of what we dont know and dont understand. Conrad, being the anti-imperialist decided to use the word savage without offe nding natives and their culture but while doing so he gives off the impression of still being a part of the social norm. Further in the story we see a character awakening on a very personal level. Nina realizes she is not of pure European blood, she realizes that she will never be accepted as an equal within the Europeans or the whites since she is a half-breed. It is for this reason that Nina chooses to live with the natives. Almayer is an example of someone who is stuck for he stays where he is and he realizes that he is going nowhere which turns out to be his real Folly. Conrad pushes the limits of the social norm when he writes about Nina joining the natives. Being a half-breed in the nineteenth century, you would not be accepted for who you are. Conrad uses this to subtly hint that the way of living is wrong and everyone should be accepted for who they are no matter their breeding background or the colour of their skin. In the summary of Almayer`s Folly we have seen that Conrad has not written in an imperialistic way. It is important to note that Forster, along with Conrad and Lawrence,Ã is one of the few writers of this time period who treats the members of a backward country with the seriousness and sympathy considered necessary for an anthropological understanding by modern standards. This quote from savage and literature explains why we do not see the imperialistic views in Conrad`s novel Almayer`s Folly. Work Cited Conrad, Joseph. Almayers Folly. Government should ensure equal opportunity and protection of political and property rights.
